Mr Naismith’s Secret (2026)
Some secrets refuse to stay buried…
Written by Clare Callow. Produced by Echo Theatre
Directed by Glen Barton & Tara Vagg
It's 1892, and Mr Edward Naismith, chemist, has invited Melbourne's elite to his house for the announcement of his engagement. But in this house lie secrets: some harmless; some disturbing; some fatal. How many will you uncover?
____
This show contains: mild audience interaction; sexual references; simulated violence; smoking of herbal cigarettes; a scene portraying abortion, and several scenes exploring drugs and drug-addition.
When you arrive…
Are you Old Money, New Money or Saving Money?
If you purchase a "Saving Money" ticket at $50, you'll be sent around the back of the The Vue Grand Hotel where you'll be invited to watch and dance to the Irish fiddle and nurse a beer or house wine.
If you purchase a "New Money" Ticket at $60, you'll be welcomed through the grand entrance, offered a wine and can mingle amongst live classical music.
A scene will take place at either entrance before you are all ushered into the same room.
In the main room where everyone can gather you may find some audience interaction, you are otherwise a fly on the wall. Choose a character to walk with, race towards the loudest noises, stay in one room or discover many, buy a drink at the bar mid-show, piece the story together – choose your own adventure!
